Microsoft has taken online mapping up another notch with the launch of Windows Live Local (via TechCrunch). The birdseye view images simply amazing (you can practically see in to the window of my apartment), but my favorite feature is the ability to zoom the map in and out using the scroll wheel on the mouse. This makes moving long distances across the map far easier than it was before. Looks like Microsoft really is looking to be a player in to the Web 2.0 game. Next step, kill Google.
